THE MISSION OF THE ONYX YOUTH CHAPTER

The Onyx Ski and Sports Club of Tampa Bay will sponsor the Onyx Youth Chapter.
Onyx Ski and Sports of Tampa Bay is a member of the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS).
The mission of the NBS is to find, select, and fund training of potential Olympic caliber
African American youth and promotes skiing within the African American communities.
The mission of the Onyx Youth Chapter is to provide Tampa Bay area youth
with the opportunity to explore skiing and a variety of outdoor sports.

GOALS

To promote healthy active lifestyles in the youth participants.
To support talents in sports and athletics.
To provide interaction with positive role models.
To encourage youth participants to be self-confident,
self-motivated, and self disciplined.

MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA

Youth from the ages of 7 - 17

Submit a completed application with signature of parent/guardian.
Note: The application can be mailed to the address above or turned into any adult member
of the Onyx Ski and Sports Club of Tampa Bay.

Youth and parent/guardian must participate in parent/child orientation.

GENERAL

The Onyx Youth Chapter will consist of youth members from the ages of 7 to 17.
Members can expect to participate in a wide variety of activities such as skiing,
snowboarding, ice-skating, in-line skating, biking, golfing, canoeing, camping, hiking, etc..
Members are expected to display positive behavior
and personal pride while participating in all events.
Though there is no fee for involvement in the Onyx Youth Chapter,
there may be nominal fees associated with some of the activities.
Therefore, members will be expected to participate in fundraising activities.
The youth members can expect trips and/or activities as least once a month.
