PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

As I recall, the date was Thursday, January 30, 1997. The time was 7:30 pm.
The locale was Adrian’s Night Club & Restaurant on Gunn Highway in Northwest Tampa.
Joyce Hogue and Erni Moore were the meeting hosts.

Oh, and one last detail - Onyx Ski & Sports Club of Tampa Bay was born.

It is my pleasure to serve you as your president in this our 10th year of existence.
I’ve always agreed with the notion that starting a ski club is easy.
The hard part is sustaining it. We’ve come a long way in 10 years.
Our membership is well over 100 and the success of Onyx can be directly attributed to you
– the committed and dedicated members of Onyx.

In the spring, after all the ski trips are over, we will culminate our 1st 10 years with a grand celebration.
Darele Campbell, my better half, has graciously volunteered to chair the anniversary committee.
I ask that you give Darele your unconditional support.

Lastly, as most of you are aware, I was recently elected as a Director of the Eastern Region of the NBS.
In honor of the accomplishment, you awarded me a handsome engraved plaque
at the Ski Season Kickoff Party & Fashion Show on December 1st.
I was so surprised that I was speechless.
Thank you so much Onyx. I will forever remember that night.

I remain,
Ray Campbell

Highlights from the Eastern Region Early Season Warm Up –
Dec. 5-9, 2006

Fifteen (15) Onyx members joined over 700 others from the NBS
at the fabulous Aspen-Snowmass Resort in Colorado.
The snow was great for early December and the weather was ideal.
Kudos to trip leader Joyce Hogue and our never-ever skiers,
Lequita McCreary of Atlanta, GA., Gentry Benjamin from West Palm Beach
and Quentin Campbell of Orlando, all had a great time.
(I think we have three new skiers.)

Sincerely,
Ray Campbell
